Well, that was a little tricky, perhaps unnecessarily so, but turned out well. Last I heard from Nad was a note saying they'd be flying in to Detroit's Metro airport Monday from Chicago at 7:45PM at terminal "N". My first mistake was thinking terminal N was his gate. No. I pulled up a map of the two terminals, one of which is brand new, on Sunday and saw no gate N. But I'm sure it would have been helpful at that moment had I seen that the name of the new terminal is - wait for it - the North Terminal. N = North, right? Well, anyway, the airport is only about 10 minutes from my home so at 7:30 I headed over, got on the main road in and at the fork - go left for the McNamara terminal, right for the North Terminal (still haven't connected "N" to North) - I decided to pick right. So, I passed the front, didn't see anyone, and then looped all the way around to where I could again make the left/right decision and took one more shot at North. This time, I pulled up to a temp parking spot just shy of the terminal and sat waiting, hopefully, to get a phone call with some explicitness. But, of course, after 5 minutes of that I got impatient and opted to make another passby and loop-around. Only this time, huzzah!, there they were, the entire band standing out at curbside. Got to meet everyone briefly and then loaded up Nad and his gear in my Ford Edge and off we went. Great to see him again after 4 years and 9 months. He was hungry so I took him to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Manuel's Taco Hut, just up the road from my house and he greatly enjoyed the food and the decor. Every October leading up to Halloween, Manny's does a complete floor to ceiling haunted house makeover inside and it's quite a treat to eat there with goblins and ghouls and ghosts and general gruesomeness all about.

Anyway, we talked about the show they did in LA, which went great. He had family members there including his dad who was mightily impressed by the band. After eating we stopped at Jet's Pizza to say hi to my youngest son who manages there, and my oldest son was there visiting when we showed up so we got a twofer on that deal. Then we hit the local Krogers and picked up a bottle of wine and a couple other odds and ends and headed over to my place.

But more on that and today's goings on a bit later. I have to wake him up now and get up to the local Best Buy where hopefully he can get some immediate help with his computer. Yeah, it's giving him fits and he needs it for tonight's gig. Anxious moments I can tell you. Details to follow. But in any event, the big show goes on in about 12 hours. Woohoo!
